Dog Policy

NO DOGS or OTHER PETS Allowed—Except for Certified Service Dogs—Be prepared to submit certification and the dog must be wearing identification. We apologize to dog lovers—however—this is also a public event, many people still fear dogs, and with past incidents of close-call dog bites, dogs being allowed to "poop" and the owner ignoring it and other less than desirable behavior—this is our policy. Your adherence and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Celebrate the Horse needs volunteers

Patty Kelley

Hi..

I am the event director for Celebrate the Horse---a fundraising event at the Puyallup fairgrounds on July 5th and 6th..with move-in on July fourth.

Every net dollar goes to support People Helping Horses [www.peoplehelpinghorses.org ], a registered 501(3) C nonprofit that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes abandoned and abused horses. We also have a heavy focus on education---and working to develop a program called, A Leg Up for Kids where we will work with disadvantaged kids to introduce horses into their lives through riding lessons and associated education about the value and care of horses.

The facility is located in Arlington, WA---and most recently was involved in a 17 horse seizure in Renton,WA, as seen on all local media stations.

Celebrate the Horse is a public horse festival. It's not an expo or a horse show--although we will have commercial vendors---our event is geared at the public to entertain and educate! And of course, we'll have horse people everywhere as well.

We need volunteers---many, many volunteers to help us with a variety of tasks during the event, as well as move-in day. It'll be fun and educational. Some tasks will involve being around horses--some will not.

Although our web site is not complete yet--if you visit www.celebratethehorse.org you'll get an idea of what we're doing--and see the outstanding lineup of horse breeds, professionals and more that will make it a great time for everyone.

Thanks very much for any help you can be! For more information or to volunteer please contact Patty Kelley at 360.391.9901.

Parking Staff Needed!

Cheryl James

Celebrate The Horse is in need of a minimum of 20 people each day to run the parking lot.

This would be a great fund-raising opportunity for another Non-Profit or Service Organization.

We are expecting over 6,000 people to attend this event. $5-7/car - 2-4 people a car, that's over 1,500 cars. The money brought in from parking will be split 50/50 between the non-profit/service organization and Celebrate the Horse. It would be a BIG BIG money raiser for a local club or organization.

If interested please call, Cheryl James at 425-891-4782.

Seattle Seahawks’ Sea Gals to Support Horse Rescue with Special Photo Opportunity

Arlington, WA. June 7, 2008: Three horse-loving members of the very popular Sea Gals, cheerleading team for the Seattle Seahawks, will be appearing at Celebrate the Horse on July 5th between 12:00 and 3:00 pm at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center in Puyallup, WA for pictures and autographs. Professional photographs will be taken on a donation basis—with backdrops and props that include miniature horses! Although the Sea Gals receive numerous requests for appearances, Sherri Thompson, Director of the Sea Gals, was quick to understand the importance of fundraising to support horse rescue. She owns three horses. Two are very elderly horses, now living out their retirement at her place. All donations and other monies raised through the event will go to support People Helping Horses, a registered 501(C ) 3 nonprofit in Washington State that rescues, rehabilitates and adopts out horses that have been abandoned and abused. Additionally, the organization seeks to establish A Leg Up for Kids; a program pairing disadvantaged kids with rescued horses in a riding program teaching horsemanship and responsible horse ownership.

Celebrate the Horse focuses on education and entertainment for the entire family, horse lovers and those looking for a family oriented event over the holiday weekend. It offers two days of nonstop entertainment and education. Adults and kids alike will be entertained by such equine groups as: the Warhorse Challenge, Mounted Martial Arts and Archery, Acrobatic Vaulting with Kids, Washington State Mounted Cowboy Shooters, the King County Mounted Posse, the American Driving Society and the Wind Dancers Drill Team.

Professional horsemanship seminars, clinics and demonstrations will be provided by top professional clinicians such as: Alice Trindle’s T & T Horsemanship, Barb Apple’s Horse Play, Steve Rother Horsemanship, Missy Wryn, and Leigh Shambo on the breakthrough modality of Equine Assisted Therapy, and many more.

Many breed organizations will be represented, including Marchadors, Warlanders, Arabians, Friesians, Gypsy Horses, Akhal Tekes, Peruvian Pasos, American Saddlebreds, Appaloosas, Andalusians, American Miniature Horses, Icelandic Horses, Nokota and Kiger Mustangs and more.

Other family attractions include: pony rides, a petting corral, carriage rides, stick horse making and stick horse races. The event will also offer a great variety of commercial exhibits including artists and authors, such as Liz Mitten-Ryan—a renowned equine and wildlife artist and best-selling author; breakout author Constance Funk with her new book release and filmmaker Stormy May with her acclaimed film, The Path of the Horse. Attendees will be able to meet and talk to all of the demonstrators, clinicians, professional horsemanship trainers and breed representatives. Artists and authors will also be available to meet and sign copies of their books and images.

Discounted tickets are available online though at the web site. Gates open at 9:30—close at 7:30. For more information and tickets on the event, go to: www.celebratethehorse.org.
